YOUR BUSINESS. OUR FOCUS.
UpSure Retail & Franchising
You know your customers. Let's get to know your risks.
From your first shop to a growing network, bring your stock, people, premises and contractual obligations into one insurance conversation.
For Australian retailers, franchisees and franchise groups.
Start with the shop floor
Include fit-outs, stock peaks and the equipment you need to trade.
Make sense of the contracts
Review insurance clauses in leases and franchise agreements.
Keep pace with the network
Discuss new sites and ownership changes before they happen.
A CLEARER STARTING POINT
One store or many. Every detail counts.
Your lease, franchise agreement and online sales can each introduce different responsibilities. Tell us which entities operate the stores, who owns the stock and what the wider network arranges. We can then identify what needs reviewing.
- Independent retailers
- Franchise operators
- Multi-site businesses
- Online & physical stores
THE COVER CONVERSATION
What might your business need?
Start with the exposures, then the policy. Here are some of the areas we can discuss.
Property & interruption
Fit-outs, fixtures and stock, plus lost income following an insured event. Seasonal stock values need attention.
Explore this areaPublic & products liability
Customer injury, property damage and allegations involving products you sell, import or brand.
Explore this areaCyber & payment systems
Incident response and privacy exposures around ecommerce, customer records and connected store systems.
Explore this areaManagement liability
Employment disputes and governance risks for operating entities and their directors.
Explore this areaStock in transit
Goods moving from suppliers to stores or customers. Check who bears the risk at each handover.
Explore this areaNetwork-specific exposures
Discuss franchise structures, theft, equipment breakdown and any cover required by the franchise agreement.
Discuss with our teamThese are areas to discuss, not a recommended package or confirmation that cover is available. We will confirm insurer appetite and the scope we can arrange. Policy terms, exclusions, limits and excesses apply. Workers compensation and other compulsory arrangements need separate consideration.
THE DETAILS BEHIND THE BRAND
The same brand doesn't mean the same policy.
A franchisor's arrangements may not cover every franchisee or every location. We start with the entities and agreements, not an assumption that the network has everything covered.
- Identify who is insured, and for which activities and sites.
- Check limits, interested parties and certificate requirements.
- Review peak stock and the time it could take to reopen.
LET'S MAKE IT SIMPLE
A short brief.
A real conversation.
Tell us what you do, what is changing and when you need cover. We will explain the next step and what else we need.
Start your enquiryA few useful things to have ready
- Store locations, entities and your role in the franchise
- Lease and franchise insurance clauses
- Fit-out, equipment and peak stock values
- Sales split, current policies and claims history
Complex quotes require an engagement letter before detailed broking work begins. Here is how that works.
Does the franchisor's insurance cover my store?
Not necessarily. Ask for the actual policy details and check whether your entity, premises, activities and liabilities are included. A franchise agreement may place obligations on you even where the network arranges some cover.
Can several locations sit in one program?
Potentially. Insurers need the details of each entity, location and activity. We can discuss whether a combined arrangement makes sense, how limits are shared and whether individual sites need different terms.
What about busy-season stock?
Give us your maximum stock values, not just an annual average. Seasonal increases, off-site storage and imported shipments should be checked against the wording and limits before peak trading.
Does public liability cover my own product recall costs?
Do not assume it does. Liability for injury or damage and the cost of withdrawing your own product are different exposures. Tell us about private-label products and imports so recall requirements can be discussed separately.
What happens after I enquire?
Our team reviews your activities and the scope of the work before approaching insurers. These enquiries are broker-led, not automatic quotes. For complex placements, we agree an engagement letter before detailed broking work begins. Making an enquiry does not start cover.

General information only. This does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Availability and cover depend on underwriting acceptance and the policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits and excesses. An enquiry is not confirmation of cover.
